This is for the serious and mature crafter! Bought this for my 10 year old grandson who is a wiz with legos putting together 1000’s of piece projects in just a couple of hours. This project is going to take a month or so. Assembled with toothpicks (provided) which are too big and needed to be sanded down. They needed to provide a safe tool to cut the toothpicks “pegs” which are the only fasteners. There are no screws or glue which is cool but makes this project a beast!

I got this model to help kill some time. It absolutely did that and more! This model has some challenging assemblies. The two gear boxes (one in front, and one in the rear) have to be carefully sanded, tolerance checked and matched in order to accomplish smooth operation. I ended up using CA+ superglue on the mating surfaces of the moving parts and then sanding with 240 grit to take out any rough spots. I would also recommend using a dry graphite lubricant for all contact surfaces of moving parts. The engine assembly took me a while to complete because I hardened the wood surfaces with CA+, built up the rod journals with spare wood and then sanded them round. I also glued each rod together (on the crank), sanded and tolerances for smooth movement. I highly recommend CA/CA+ superglue, a sanding block, a variety of round items that can be used as sanding blocks, and sand paper ranging from 180 to 400 grit. The toothpicks that are provided are low quality and made of wood. I stopped by the supermarket and picked up round toothpicks made out of bamboo (higher quality and very strong) In total, this model took me 30+ hours to complete. The fun of this model is in the assembly of it and the satisfaction of a job well done when finished. It now sits on the shelf and is a nice conversation piece.
*If you plan on putting this model together in an afternoon and then play with it, you will be very disappointed.*

I bought this for my grandson’s 12 birthday. He is extremely smart for his age. He loved it and is taking his time building it. I liked it so well i’m asking for a bigger model kit for Christmas. These are truly amazing model kits. I built model’s when I was a youngster, but put them on hold when I hit high school age. Now I am a Grown older man and can honestly say these are way better than any model you built as a kid. These people really have something here. I challenge anyone who read’s this review to go to their website at (woodtrick.com) and see the Great selection of teenager to adult’s Model’s. They work as well. Truly is an innovative project. Seeing is believing.

El sistema de palillos es insuficiente para la pieza que regula el start-stop. Lo demás es perfecto. Se ve una buena maqueta

I like that it looks cool. I really dislike the toothpicks. Why would you A) use toothpicks at all? And B) why would you not drill the holes big enough to insert them if you really needed to use cheap toothpicks? They just break. I sanded them, waxed them and they just broke. Twice. Only made it to the second step. Besides, it’s fairly dangerous to be cutting these off. Other brands I have used include laser cut pins in the wood cut outs to join that are sized appropriately to the holes. This brand should do that. Sanding down a huge amount of toothpicks shouldn’t be how the majority of time spent on this should go. There’s a lot of holes to fill. I hope I can return it.
***Update*** After directly emailing this company to give them my feedback, I was told that they discontinued using toothpicks to build their models. So maybe skip this one, but consider other choices from them. They seemed to be very responsive to my feedback and a decent company. They responded very quickly.

Out of all the brands, this is so far my favorite wood build.
Pros. As much as i like 3d models i did like the toothpick method over having another sheet of tiny pieces.
There is a smaller sheet of extras that have a higher chance of breaking
All pieces were cut on point, no trimming
Model turned out soooo smooth
Cons.
As much as like the toothpick idea, it was a pain at some point (had to bring out the superglue for the last step bc 4 rubberbands on each side of those T pieces pulled them from the gears)
Not sure what happened but after winding it up the tires wont spin. Possibly user error but im not crying that a model intended for display isnt flying across the floor. The back of the booklet provides ideas as to why scenario ______ is happening but i reeeaaallly dont want to take it apart just to find thats not the issue
Just being picky w this point, would have preferred if they use the sheets in numerical order rather than hopping all over the place. Would have made troubleshooting a bit easier.
Overall. Even w my cons 100% i would recommend/gift this model. Doesnt take forever like some models and they just did a great w the pieces (cut, amount, details, look). Dont let my cons stop you, at the end of the day yeah its a bummer i wasnt able to run it across my floor but the main purpose is to build secondary is for display. Aside from one part out of the 68 pages, EASY to follow directions and its VERY CLEAR on what its symbols mean.
