I lost the Sonicare I bought in 2020 due to a mishandled airline luggage incident in Feb 2023, and liked the toothbrush well enough to buy another. Unfortunately the newer model is not a good replacement.

Comparing to the previous model, the new handle is an inch shorter, the diameter is slimmer, and it’s much lighter. I’m assuming they switched to a smaller motor because this new toothbrush does not vibrate as hard. The battery is probably smaller too. This cost as much or maybe a few dollars more than I paid in 2020, so I guess shrinkflation strikes again.

The charger does not have a standard wall outlet plug – instead it has a USB port “for waste/environmental reasons” but if you contact customer service they will send you a free charge brick. This is nonsensical – a brick is obviously going to be a lot more plastic waste than a wall plug. And most wall outlets don’t come with a built-in USB port, so we’re going to be needing those charge bricks.

This model has (at least) three user-definable settings, and a tap switch for vibration intensity, all of which are pointless:

If you tap the power button twice within two seconds it changes the vibration intensity from “barely going” to “still less power than the original Sonicare had”. A third tap turns the toothbrush off completely. When turning the toothbrush back on, it “should” remain at the last-selected intensity. Two seconds is an excessive timeout for this already-useless option, and I can never be sure if the brush will be going full strength when I turn it back on. So I waste some time pressing the power button and trying to feel whether my toothbrush is vibrating hard enough. Does that sound silly? It is!

Now for the user-defined settings, if the brush is set on the charge base and the power button is pressed after X number of seconds:

There’s an “EasyStart” mode which is the default, it gradually increases the vibration intensity over the course of 14 uses, “to help you get used to brushing with the Sonicare”. If you have bought this toothbrush with the intention of sticking it in your mouth while it is vibrating, you’re not going to be startled by the maximum intensity. Pointless. I think I have disabled it, but like I mentioned earlier, I never know what the vibration intensity is going to be when I turn this toothbrush on anyway.

Brush head replacement reminder: only works if you use the special “BrushSync” brush heads compatible with this feature.. There should be no reason for anyone to turn this reminder off. Also, the sensors which estimate brush wear (number of uses, pressure used when brushing) are inside the handle and should be usable for any brush you stick on the handle, but are deliberately disabled unless you buy the more-expensive BrushSync heads.

Pressure sensor: Again, no reason for anyone to turn this off. All it does is pulse the vibration if you’re brushing too hard.

Update: my luggage was found and returned (!!!!!), so I’ll be returning this if I can, and maybe get a few more years out of my original Sonicare.

Replaced it once due to battery issue when under warrantee. Now, the battery level will suddenly dived from around 60% to 0%. Please fix this issue in your future products.

I’ve been using the Oral-B Genius X Limited for a couple years now and I’m thoroughly impressed. The toothbrush feels solid and well-made, not too heavy, but with just the right amount of weight to feel premium and durable in hand. It’s compact enough to store easily, even with the sleek travel case it comes with.
The design is modern and elegant, with a smooth finish and LED ring that can be customized. It looks great on the counter and feels very comfortable to hold. The brush head is the perfect size to reach all areas of the mouth, and the rotating-oscillating motion provides an incredibly deep clean, my teeth have never felt this smooth outside of a dentist visit.
One of my favorite features is the smart sensor that tracks pressure and position through the app. It’s helped me improve my brushing technique and avoid over-brushing sensitive areas. The battery life is excellent I only charge it about two times a week.
Overall, this is a top-tier electric toothbrush that delivers on performance, design, and technology. Definitely worth the investment if you’re looking to elevate your oral hygiene routine.

I love this toothbrush. It has high RPMs making cleaning teeth a quick chore. Battery life is excellent but recharge time does take a little bit more than expected.

My husband actually loved it so much, he took my toothbrush & I bought the exact same one in a different color. LOVE this toothbrush! Well worth the price if you brush hard & have to buy a new toothbrush all the time. We just have to change the toothbrush head every 3 months! Super lightweight, easy to pack, clean, & quality is top notch!

I love it, although the battery doesn’t last much and it takes a lot time to charge. Besides, the case didn’t last much. I guess it was not designed for that. Anyway, after getting used to the small shortcomigs I started to love the quality, simplicity, and overall design. I guess I might upgrade to a better battery in the future.

More and better options. Easy to use but could possibly use more options for set up (wall mount)

I bought this toothbrush in 2021 and 2 days ago it finally stopped working. 4 years of work for an electric toothbrush is amazing in my opinion. Now I get to upgrade to a different oral b io toothbrush and see if this one last just as long as this one did. So overall I’m happy with my purchase.

My mouth felt cleaner than the non-electronic toothbrushes and the $20 electric toothbrushes. This has lasted me almost three years coming August. The app is great but I stopped using it. Getting ready to order the same one.

The ad write up on Amazon about the toothbrush is accurate. Great speed, easy handling, much better than the last couple of Oral B’s I’ve owned. Well worth the price.
