This Govee pro is an amazing lighting system. It’s so easy to install and the instructions were simple and well laid out. I liked the fact that it comes with a wide variety of connectors and extensions to go from one level of roof area to another. I opted to spend a little more to make the job perfect so I bought 1/2” speaker wire channel (on Amazon) 17” long, to put between each light puck. A little more wrk and $$$ but well worth to make the job look professional. I used a peice of 2×4 to put each puck 3 1/2” from the back wall and the light reflection is absolutely perfect at that distance. I would recommend this lighting system to anyone looking to spruce up the looks of their home.

Thsea are such cool lights. I bought these last summer with the hope of installing them before Christmas. In the past I have always had to climb onto my roof to install Christmas lights. It was such a chore, and like medium dangerous. Well long story short I broke my leg in October (luckily not falling off of the roof) and did not get a chance to install these until earlier this year, and man I missed out last Christmas!
The installations process does take some time but is very straightforward as long as you plan ahead. The adhesive pads stick extremely well to our vinyl soffits and haven’t shown any signs of budging all summer… a very hot humid summer so far. I love that the kit came with splices and jumpers to make it easier to install segments in all sorts of roof configurations, granted we didn’t need any of that since we have a very simple ranch style house, but I could see it being invaluable for some.
The application to control the lights does have a bit of a learning curve, but it didn’t take me too long to figure out how to design custom scenes and schedules after a bit of fiddling around with it. You can literally go light by light if you want and set everything manually or there are a bunch of fun pre-installed scenes available as well.
Overall the whole kit feels extremely high quality and I expect it should last a very long time. Currently it has only been a few months, but I will definitely update this review in the future if necessary. Everyone loved our 4th of July red white and blue lights, but I can’t wait for Halloween and Christmas! All I know is I am probably going to be buying a lot more Govee products in the future.

The Govee Pro Lights are easy to install and look awesome. After installing, they look like professionally installed lighting. What I liked about the Pro Lighting is the wiring can be spliced and extended to extend length. The mounting tape is very sticky. I also ordered and added third party brackets to the lights to secure to the soffit guaranteeing they will not fall off. Once this was installed I did not want to go back up on a ladder to re-secure. It is stated that once the tape is secured they will stay up; but to me there is always that possibility they could because of weather conditions. Highly recommend!!!!

You do need an additional piece for the power box to make sure it doesn’t get wreaked with weather but can pick it up from a hardware store! Love these lights

Lights came well packaged. I laid them all out in the house and tested and measured everything before mounting them. Quality seems good but I bought the extra warranty anyway. The kit had splicing ends and 3 good extensions that came in handy. Mounted them up at 10cm from the house (to the light body). This seems to be a good distance to get the effect on the wall. The kit could use more of the flat wire mounts. We ran short and bought some cable mounts from Home Depot. I really like the look and the effects. The app could use some fine tuning and the on/off timer is out to lunch.
Hey Govee, I saw on Etsy some guys 3D printing mounting brackets for the “Pro” lights. You guys should be selling your own version. I would buy them. I really am impressed with the end result and I might buy some more….
Update: 2 months of use. Some light colors are now dim. Working with Govee to fix. Communication is very difficult. Update: Feb 2025 – Govee sent me a new controller, no charge. The problem is fixed. Working good. I have asked them if I may purchase a spare controller……

For now, my review is limited to the install. I will update my review once I have been able to use them for a period of time. Initially, I was frustrated with the lack of information. I wanted to order everything needed to do the install so I wasn’t in a position where I started and then had to order more stuff to complete the job. I had a few areas where I expected to splice, and it wasn’t clear as to what is in the box.
The box includes the lights (9 strands), the power adapter, the controller, 3 connector kids, 2 short extension cables, 2 longer extension cables, extra adhesive pads, and plastic cable clips with screws. I thought I would need to purchase a connector kit (which was not available for purchase). Fortunately, there are some in the box.
A few things to point out. The plastic clips with screws are not good. First, there are not enough. The included screws are completely useless. It comes with several pouches, each with 7 or 8 sets. With each pouch, 2 or 3 screws would be bad. They do not screw into the soffit easily. The screws are so cheap that the strip. Several of them had the head break off the screw when installing. Lastly, these are not likely something you want to use as a permanent solution, as they will likely rust after a few months. If you are looking for a ‘permanent’ solution, I would get better stainless steel screws.
The power adapter is clearly labeled as indoor use only. I have seen this from other reviewers as well. I expect that if you install this outdoors, it will fail. The controller, which installs between the power adapter and the first strand, is not labeled as indoor/outdoor. I’m going to assume it’s indoor-only as well.
The lights come with adhesive on each light. I have read reviews where folks have paid installers and were disappointed the lights started to fall after a short time. They then had to pay the installer a second/third time to do the install. Well duh! I would not expect to use adhesive outdoors.
I was able to splice my lights a few times successfully – it was a painless process. Be sure to have the right tools.
The lights are bright and look great. You can connect to Apple Home, but functionality is limited. You can turn on/off and select a color. However, 95% of the features are going to be controlled via the Govee app. My goal is to control the on/off scheduling via Apple automations. I prefer to keep my scheduling all in one place. I will update my review later with the results.

Super easy to install, only thing I recommend is getting wire screw holders to screw into the house because the stickers don’t hold up with the heat or snow, it’s better to secure the lights with a screw attachment. They sell them at Home Depot in the electrical aisle. Other than that they are amazing, thousands of choices of designs and colors that will last a lifetime! Remote controlled by an app on your phone, connects easily to your wife. Funnest lights on the whole block!
