I’ve always loved coffee, but the Breville Barista Express Impress has completely elevated my morning routine. The machine looks sleek on the counter, and once you get familiar with it, it’s easy to use.
The built-in grinder is a huge plus…you can dial in the grind size for your beans, and the assisted tamping system makes it almost foolproof. The pressure gauge helps ensure consistent shots, and the steam wand steams milk beautifully for lattes and cappuccinos.
There is a learning curve at first (figuring out grind settings, dose, and timing), but once dialed in, the results are rich, smooth, and honestly better than most coffee shops. Cleanup is straightforward, though it does take a little counter space.
Overall, this machine is perfect for anyone who wants quality espresso or lattes at home without spending coffee shop prices every day. It’s an investment, but it pays off quickly in taste, convenience, and sheer morning coffee joy.

We purchased this after our previous Delonghi machine sprang a leak and watching countless reviews.
Embedded grinder is great, can be removed to be cleaned too which is an added benefit a lot of other machines don’t have.
Once you dial in the grind settings, it really does consistently make a great shot of espresso. As you can see in the video, it dosed a little less than required and subsequently added a bit to make the perfect amount.
The embedded tamping system is amazing too, as someone who previously made a mess, this is really one of the benefits I didn’t think of before using this. The coffee is amazing and generally pretty consistent, but highly bean dependant so dialing in your roast is very important.
In addition, the support on this machine is wild. You can buy every part, about a million third party parts, and there are forums with thousands of people who have this machine for any troubleshooting or dialing in.

Both my wife and I found operating this machine to be pretty straight forward. I did find some of the YouTube videos on grinding of the coffee beans to be slightly confusing compared to the instructions in the manual. I considered changing the setting in the internal (burr) grind mechanism, but decided to leave it and stay with the setting recommended in the owner’s manual. It turned out to be a good decision. Since having had the machine now for approx 6 weeks, we’ve tried different beans and have narrowed it down to one brand that our friends initially recommended.
I personally love the coffee produced by this machine. Whether its espresso, or Americana coffee, or caffe latte, it all tastes great to me.
I love the construction of this machine. It feels solid and built to last. We opted for the black and we’re glad we did. It matches the decor in our kitchen and is easy to clean.
I would highly recommend this machine.

Está muy completa y fácil de usar, la extracción de café es excelente y aunque el sabor depende mucho del tipo y marca de café puedo decir que lo extrae con muy buen sabor. I love this espresso machine. The size fits perfectly on my counter and it feels solid and well made. The build quality is impressive and you can tell it’s made to last. The adjustable coffee temperature lets me get the flavor just how I like it, and the grinder and tamping system make the process smooth and consistent. The espresso comes out rich and full of flavor every time. I’m still practicing my milk frothing for latte art, but overall this machine is durable, reliable, and a great value for the quality.

The Breville Barista Express Impress has completely transformed my morning routine. I’ve always loved café espresso but struggled to recreate that rich flavor at home—until now. This machine delivers consistently smooth shots with beautiful crema every single time. The Impress system takes the guesswork out of grinding and tamping, so even if you’re new to espresso, it feels effortless and professional.

I absolutely love my coffee. I don’t know how people survived before they learned to roast coffee beans and brew their morning cup.
My previous fully automatic machine died, repair was $700+ and they no longer had electronic parts. I had to get another machine and quickly. I was a grizzly bear without my coffee! I selected the Barista Express Impress. (Couldn’t they find a better name?)
As far as this machine, it is more difficult than making drip coffee in your Keurig. It is designed to give you the tools to make the best coffee that you ever had. However, you need to learn how to use it. It takes a lot of time to master because you have control of parameters I did not know existed.
The machine has a nice set of tools for maintenance and daily use. The tool tray attaches to the rear of the drip tray and is easily reached by pulling out the drip tray. The machine senses how much coffee to grind and automatically adjusts to grind the correct amount of beans. On several occasions, the beans stuck in the grinder, so I had to manually grind to get the correct level. No big deal but it mess up the level of beans to grind and it takes several cups of coffee to get it right again. I think that is why there are a lot of complaints about the grind level changing. I have learned to “bump” the bean hopper to free the beans before there are problems. If you listen, you can hear the grinder start to run free. I think Breville needs to redesign the hopper so beans flow freely. That is the only real criticism I have found.
There are some things you need to know. First off, the beans you choose are extremely important. They affect the coffee more than anything else. Second, you control the coffee grind. You get to choose exactly how fine you grind. That is a major factor in making coffee. Third, you get to control the brewing temperature. I haven’t figured out how yet, but I am happy with the brew as it is.
When I make a latte, I use the microwave oven to heat the milk. If you want latte art, you will need to use the milk frother. I tried it a few times and it works well. There is a lot to clean, so I don’t use it.
There are a few problems. My machine would only grind as I was holding the grind button. I unplugged the machine and it worked correctly when I plugged it back in. The machine stopped brewing. The pump would run with a noise that sounded like the machine would explode. When I turned the machine around to get the serial number (it was not on the back like Support told me–I think it is on the machine underside), I realized that I had run out of water! There is no water low sensor, so it is easy for the machine to run dry. Since a dry pump will fail very quickly, this is a major oversight.
The machine needs to be descaled regularly, especially if you live in a hard water area. Cleaning supplies are too expensive so I buy citric acid in bulk and generic cleaning tablets. Both work well. My water used to come from a reverse osmosis filter but I no longer have that luxury. I think I need to start buying water from one of those water stores that are popping up all over.
On the whole, the machine makes an excellent cup but it takes knowledge and time to learn.

I love this machine. It makes beautiful lattes and I love the interior self tamping feature for cleanliness. It doesn’t make a mess at all!!! It heats up quickly and allows you to tamp, brew, and steam rather quickly. I love how it assist with correct bean portions for a shot with a happy face in green. Nothing is more exciting to see than a happy face in the morning when you have done little to nothing for it. Huge range for grind size to dial in the perfect grind size for different beans. Doesn’t leak from the water reservoir or have any issues I’ve noticed. It was packaged beautifully and came to me in a new condition just like I ordered. I made a latte for a visitor and now she is ordering one . Just delicious. I used Hairbender whole bean coffee and my next choice in beans to try is the lavazza super crema whole beans. I love how when you register your machine they send you 2 bags of free beans from a place that’s brewed it fresh.
I have to say…I do Starbucks lattes and my machine brews better tasting smoother lattes than I’ve paid for in store. I wasn’t ready for that. Happily surprised!
Black brushed stainless steel doesn’t feel plastic like most with random color choices. Choose stainless steel or the black brushed stainless steel for an expensive look that will last.

I really wanted to wait to write my review on this machine to see whether it lasted a whole year. Well, I actually purchased this back in November 2022 and it is still making the same consistent coffee it did when I first got it! One of the things I love about this machine is how durable it is. Of course, I’ve changed the water filters and done the recommended cleaning, but it really does stand up to the test of time and make consistent, fabulous drinks! I use this machine daily and couldn’t imagine being without it.
If you’re on the fence and shopping around different brands, I can say that after 3 years of daily use I highly recommend this product! It’s so simple to use and you can get a great cup of “coffee shop” coffee by pressing 2 buttons, pulling down on an handle and steaming some milk with the built in steamer. It’s saved me so much money over the years doing it myself at home. Great investment and enjoyable to do each morning.

Loved it while it worked. Have used it every single day since last Christmas, take excellent care and clean/descale regularly. No reason if it is well under the 2 year warranty that I would have issues. Breville customer support is one of the worst I’ve ever dealt with. Filled out the form on website and received the autoresponse email that indicated that someone would contact me within 2 business days. It has been 10 days now and no response to email and phone response times are similar to calling the airlines. Support person on the phone asked me all the information I had already provided and wanted to send me a text with a link for a video call. That seems highly inappropriate and unsafe. I was not offered any other alternative. They cannot help me unless I am willing to do this. Would not provide me a supervisor. Not to mention the support person was unfriendly and difficult to understand.

After being sorely disappointed by a classic Nespresso machine and being wowed by the espresso that came out of a friend’s Breville Infuser, I purchased this machine. It was on sale for about $200 off, so it was a great buy! I was intrigued by the assisted tamping, as I seemed to always have inconsistent results when tamping by myself.
This machine really eliminates a lot of the guess work. I wasn’t looking to make a daily coffee into a hobby. I just want a fast way to have a tasty drink to bring to work. The Impress system is fantastic. I prefer single shots while my partner prefers doubles, and it remembers settings for both, so you do not have to change the settings between users. I reset the auto dosing whenever I open a new bag of beans and within a few runs, it is all dialed in. The grinder has
The included accessories are well thought out. The razor tool, for trimming coffee off a portafilter that has been filled too high, is made of thick metal. The tool for unscrewing the shower screen and cleaning the milk nozzle are also excellent inclusions. A trial set of cleaning chemicals is nice for starting off, but the full sized Breville descale powder and cleaning tablets are pricier than the just-as-good generic ones.
While I was intrigued by the faster heating, Baratza burrs, and auto milk frothing of the Touch Impress, I didn’t really like the idea of having to swipe through menus on a resistive touch screen to make coffee. The reviews seemed to be plagued with error code issues and crashing. The physical buttons and indicator lights seem like they’ll stand the test of time a little better. If Breville released an upgraded model with those features but no touch screen, I’d be all over it.
I live in the Southwest with very hard water, I would’ve appreciated the ability to adjust the descale reminder frequency like you can on the Breville Touch models. Having used the machine for about 6 weeks now, I have found it already necessary to descale the machine despite the light not turning on. The only non-Touch model that seems to have this feature is the classic Oracle.
Another quip has been the clearance between the portafilter and the drip tray. Anything besides a low-profile mug simply won’t fit under the portafilter without removing the drip tray. This could be improved by getting a bottomless portafilter for an additional inch of clearance, but having a slightly higher profile machine would be nice.
Overall, I am very pleased with this machine. Give it a shot if you want high quality coffee with a little more handholding than the completely manual machines.

Has a quality Italian made pump for better durability. The automated self adjusting Grind to Brew Measuring and Tamping makes consistent results amazing. Dialing in the brew is straight forward. A pleasure to use.
A 54mm WDT to break up clumping of grounds before tamping is a worthwhile extra (~$30) to purchase for consistent extraction, especially for drawing equal sizes of Dual cup extraction.

For years, I was Starbucks’ biggest fan, but I finally decided to invest in a Breville espresso machine—and I only wish I had done it sooner. I had been eyeing this model for quite some time but hesitated because of the higher price tag. After weeks of research and reading countless reviews, I felt confident this was the best option for me. I love its sleek, aesthetic design, and it fits perfectly in my kitchen. I chose the green color and absolutely love it.
The machine is high quality, easy to use, and consistently makes excellent coffee. I’m a huge espresso lover and have had so much fun trying different flavored beans from my favorite local coffee shops. This espresso machine has truly elevated my morning routine, and I’ve already saved so much money by making coffee at home. The steaming wand and hot water feature are also fantastic for making lattes and tea. Plus, the built-in grinder makes it incredibly convenient to grind beans and pull espresso shots all in one place.

Love this machine, it was easy to learn and get it dialed in exactly where I want it with my coffee scale. It seems fairly consistent after you get it setup how you like and the steam wand is so nice to use. You can change water temp and shot volumes or manually pull shots. The way it is designed with the auto grind & tamper lever is my favorite feature & what drew me to this specific machine. All in all a great purchase that is so easy to use & is used everyday. I do wish the drain tray was a little bigger but it functions as intended. I haven’t been to a coffee shop since getting this! LOL
