I bought the model A puzzle for someone as a bday gift. The one thing you need to know is that you have to shorten the rope inside the part that sits on the bottle cap to make it snug around the bottom of the puzzle. That way you won’t have a lot of excess rope flapping around. There’s a video under the listing that explains this.
I admit it was confusing to put it together even while I was literally following the video but once it’s together it’s cool. Awesome unique gift, I might just buy this everytime I gift a bottle. And it can be reused time and time again. Perfect.

Great concept and it did take me several minutes, even with the instructions. However, when I started to put it together, the rope connecting the base piece and the top piece is waaaaaay too long, a good six inches too long. Once I put it all together, you could still easily pull the top piece off due to the excessive slack in the base rope. I was really bummed but then I figured how to tie a knot in the rope that takes up enough slack. As you can see in the photo, it doesn’t matter if the locking piece is in place. Without the knot, you can easily pull the top piece off, and where’s the fun in that? All standard wine bottles don’t come much taller. Once I took up enough slack on the base rope, THEN I could put the locking piece in place and now you have to solve the puzzle.
I was looking for something to confound my siblings and it definitely will do so…..once it is clear you cannot take off the top piece without solving the puzzle. With all the excess slack in the rope, you can’t even lock the bottle into place. I bought two of them, and both of them had this problem. Fortunately I was able to work about this problem by simply shortening it with a knot, but that is not what was advertised.
