I now have 8 of these. Wirecutter highly recommends these and I can see why. They are well-made and sturdy even with my generous size. Having the cup holder is helpful. Also, the cooler bag was very helpful on the hotter days.

The cooler bag is a great addition for larger items or to hold extra items. Very comfortable to sit in (good height, good quality material, sturdy legs) lightweight to take wherever an extra chair might be needed!

I really love these chairs! I use them all the time when sitting around the bonfire with friends and family, and they’re super comfortable and sturdy. The built-in cooler pouch is such a nice bonus, it’s perfect for keeping a few drinks cold and within reach, and the cup holder is really convenient too. They fold up easily and fit nicely in the carry bag, so they’re great for taking to bonfires, camping trips, tailgates, or even just backyard hangouts. Overall, great quality and very comfortable for long evenings outside. Definitely happy with this purchase!

My wife and I got a set of these chairs after our last ***Mart brand chairs met their inevitable end. Camping chairs should not be complicated, but they should last more than a few seasons of moderate use.
WHAT I LIKE: Space – There is plenty of room in this chair for a 6’+ 220lb+ person to sit in. I felt like I had more than enough room on the seat and the arms fell at a good height for my elbows to comfortably bend (wasn’t awkwardly low like some other chairs have been.)
Storage – Coleman went above and beyond the standard “one cupholder” design of the cheapo chairs from Wally World. There is a standard cupholder, but also a built in “cooler” in the armrest, and a storage flap for other odds and ends as you are sitting around. I love this because I don’t have to keep a bunch of stuff in my lap as I’m using the chair, and if I get up to walk around, I am not worried someone else will crush my phone. The cooler functions more as a big cup cupholder and held my large waterbottle with ease.
Durability – Since I have only had this chair a few days, I can’t speak to it’s durability in the long term, but it appears to be very well made and sturdy. All the joints are well assembled and don’t squeak, and the fabric and grommets are stitched well and very thick. I see no reason that with normal use this won’t last for a few years.
WHAT I DON’T LIKE: Padding – This chair doesn’t have much in the way of comfort. While the material is better/thicker than the sub $10 chairs most people are used to, it’s not particularly padded as the pictures seem to suggest. The fabric is still hard and doesn’t breathe well in the heat. These are things that can be assumed, but just wanted to highlight that if it’s a factor. If you need breatheablity, get a mesh chair.
Cooler – This seems like a good idea, but much like any soft sided cooler, this is not going to last long before it gets gross. Fill it with ice, and you have to pull it inside out to drain/dry it later. Spill a drink in there? Good luck cleaning it out completely. It will likely always stay sticky. I like having a huge place to store big cups, and if it keeps them a little cool that’s fine, but I’ll likely never use it as intended.
Folding/Transporting – Because of all of the flappy foldy bits that are built into this thing, it compresses down to a weird blob of canvas on legs. There is no amount of folding/squeezing/manipulating that will get it back in the svelte sleave it was delivered in. You can fight it in there, but it won’t be pretty.
Speaking of the “bag” – That bag is going to be the first thing to rip/tear/shred. It’s the flimsyest part of the whole package and should not be relied on for much.
TL;DR – I would buy this again and recommend it to others. It’s a sturdy chair at a good price, provided you can deal with the weird little bits to it’s design. I bought this with my own money, and was not sponsored to say any of this.

Great outdoor chair. Comfortable and has small pockets on the arms to keep my small water bottles cool. Folds and unfolds easy. Only downfall so far is the travel bag came with a seam that was already starting to unravel.

Very expensive and uncomfortable.
I am heavy and huge. one of the two chairs I ordered directly folded down under my weight. It‘s broken now. I only use the remaining chair for women.
I do not recommend to buy this if u r looking for heavy duty foldable chairs

Ordered two of these, one for me, one for my husband. Out of the box, we’re very happy with them.
They seem sturdily made, though I know from reading reviews some people have had issues with the construction. We haven’t used them yet, but they look and feel sturdy out of the box, so no complaints there. I mean, they’re not as stable as say, dinner table chairs, but they are folding chairs, so you can’t expect that. They seem like they’ll hold up well for nights around the fire or backyard bbq’s.
One of the major selling points for me was the cooler- I thought it was a neat feature that could come in handy for not only drinks, but books, Kindles, anything you’d want to keep out of the sun and heat. I mean, these aren’t serious coolers, but I think if you threw a baggie of ice in there or an ice pack you could keep a couple beers cold for as long as it would take you to drink them. Yes, you need to empty the cooler section to put the chair back in the bag- I’ve seen a couple reviewers complain about that but honestly, these chairs fold up pretty small, how would you expect to cram 3-4 cans of extra stuff into that carry bag?
Speaking of the carry bag, they’re not the sturdiest I’ve ever seen, that’s why I knocked a star off. It’s a nice chair with a pretty flimsy bag. We have an old broken chair about the same size, I told my husband to keep the bag to that chair when we throw it out in case one of these tears. I could definitely see someone a few drinks in at a tailgate tearing these bags trying to put the chair away. But they fold up pretty small, as I said; I’m 5’2 and I can easily carry one. I wouldn’t want to carry it for miles on end or all day or anything, but I can handle getting it a hundred yards to the fire pit or whatever without any issues.
The nylon the chair is actually made of is nice and thick and the padding is pretty good- on the padding side, I’ve seen better and I’ve seen worse. These chairs ARE oversized; my six foot, 220 husband fits in it comfortably with room to spare, I feel like I’m practically sitting on a couch. The back doesn’t go up all the way to behind your head if you’re a taller person, so that might be an issue for some. The cup holder is can-sized, not koozie-sized, I think it might be a bit of a squeeze to fit a solo cup in there. The side pouch is a nice touch as well for trash, phone, whatever. The gray fabric is actually gray in real life, not that purplish color that comes up on your screen.
Would definitely recommend these chairs for the price.

I’ve used this chair for almost a year now and it has not broken or given out on me yet. It’s comfortable, not the peak of comfort, but it’s nice to sit in. It doesn’t cut off circulation to my legs from being too high or low, it’s got nice pockets, and it’s relatively inexpensive so it’s great for me.

UPDATE: I’ve had this chair since July 2019, using it roughly once/week and it still looks like new. Really solidly built. Unfortunately, it’s just too bulky and heavy for me to carry around anymore, even across the street to where I take my dog to a park, so I’m shopping for another cheap lightweight one. I’ll keep this one for camping or just to have an extra chair around, but it’s too heavy for me to carry any distance now, as I’m getting old. But, as far as durability, you should know this is a great chair. Never had a problem with it opening or closing, and it doesn’t show any wear at all in all this time.
OLD REVIEW: I knew this was going to be heavier than the old used chair I got at a yard sale. I’m still glad I bought it because it’s so comfortable and I love the amenities that, of course, weigh more. I love how wide the seat is on this. I’m a big lady and my dog likes to come up and share the chair with me, and this chair is awesome for the size.
It’s pretty much impossible to fold up into a nice thin thing for carrying to the park or wherever. I’m not going to put it in and out of the bag when I just want to walk to a local park with my dog, so I fold up my chairs and put them under an arm. I tried using a bungee cord to make it fold up smaller, but that was a pain. The problem is the pockets and the arm cooler get in the way. If you tuck them in before folding it up, then the chair doesn’t fold up very thin. If you don’t, then you have things flapping or sticking out. HOWEVER, I’d buy it again for the comfort and convenience. If I was going to walk very far, though, I’d buy another lighter chair without all the bells and whistles, and keep this one, too, for when I won’t have to carry it very far.
I also love the zipper system for opening and closing the insulated cooler on the arm. It’s a double zipper with a handle pull that connects to the zipper on either side. This means the opening to the cooler is wide, instead of having just one zipper on top with a narrow opening. With this system, you pull the handle, and it unzips a zipper on either side of the cooler, opening a space as wide as the cooler. When you pull the zippers closed, there is a velcro flap that closes the space at the opening, so the cooler is completely sealed closed. It’s really well-made will really sturdy zippers.
Other than the weight, I really don’t get why anyone would complain about this chair. My last one was nice and light and functional, but fell apart. I can see a huge difference in quality construction on this Coleman chair compared to the Sports Authority one I just had to throw out. It’s too bad you can’t buy replacement seats. The base on my old chair was fantastic – heavy duty but also really light. But, I must admit in my old age, I like having more conveniences, like having a cooler for my water in the arm of my chair.
Tip: Freeze a water bottle, like from an old ICE sparkling water bottle (they’re the perfect, slim size) and throw it in the cooler with your drinks or sandwich, to keep them really cold.

I was looking for folding chairs that are strong enough to support someone over 200 pounds and comfortable and sturdy for someone elderly. This chair fit both categories. It is very sturdy and comfortable to sit in.
The canvas material is strong. The side pockets are a bonus. Never fails that I end up with something in my hands that I wish I could safely tuck out of the way (parade program, map, little bag of snacks). The side pocket will serve nicely for those items.
Personally, I wouldn’t count on the “cooler” pocket to keep drinks cold for an extended length of time in the summer heat. It gets really hot here in Southern California. But the little compartment will be a great place to tuck a set of car keys so they don’t get lost in the sand or grass.
The drink holder has a rigid plastic ring to help drinks stay in place. It is the perfect size for a can of soda, a bottle of beer or a regular size soda fountain drink cup. I was a little disappointed that it is not big enough for a large soda cup or my 34-ounce bottle of sparkling water but it’s certainly not a deal-breaker.
I do wonder how long the carry bag will hold up. The straps feel flimsy and will likely fray over time as the bag on my old (non-Coleman) chair bag. It would be nice if the bag had just a tad more wiggle room to make it easier to get the chair back in.

Great chair, and a great price. The arms adjust at the back support which allows you to tailor them to your individual comfort. The built-in drink holder and storage bag are handy too. It’s designed to be used on a camping trip, but I bought it to use as additional seating when our adult kids come home. The storage bag and drink holder mean I don’t need to also buy a coffee or end table…the chair does it perfectly. It’s comfortable too. You could spend hours sitting in it and feel great. And when you need to pack it up, it folds up in seconds.
