Originally, I read that it was difficult to get water out of this. I didn’t think that was a problem at all. The real issue is if you are flying with it. Under pressure when flying, when you open it, it will start flowing water out of the mouth piece. So, I couldn’t use it on the airplace without a huge mess!

Becomes slightly pressurised after filling and drips everywhere when you unscrew the lid unless you unscrew the whole top first. It’s pretty annoying.

This is by far the best water bottle that I own. I have not encountered any smell. I use it when traveling because you never know what the water is gonna be like in a new place. The water quality and taste of the water is greatly neutralized and made palatable. It’s very functional and easy to travel with, but I attach a strap to the top by looping it around. It does not have a shoulder strap. My main complaint for this purchase is leakage. Because of the way that the sip top is designed when you open the bottle water can come squirting out the next time you use it if you do not blow down into it when you’re done before capping it.
Typically, changing temperatures exacerbate this problem or opening it on an airplane.
Overall, the value for the money is still really great because it is your own personal walking filter, allowing you to refill at any water station with peace of mind.

I appreciate this water bottle as it helps me drink a lot more water during my shifts at work, and it helps water taste less metallic in my opinion. Although, I guess with good products you can always find some flaws with it.
Flaw number one is, even if you go slightly above the “Max- 1 L” line on the bottle, if you put your straw in, it can overflow quite easily causing a mess. Especially if you put ice in the water.
Flaw number two is, for some reason, every time I use this bottle and I get to halfway done with my water, some of the water backs up into the straw and forms at the very tip of the mouth piece so when you pick it up, water pours all over you if you tilt it slightly to drink out of it. I’ve had this happen on multiple occasions and I do not understand why, especially because it only happens when I get to the halfway mark, and it’s not overfilled at all. Another thing I don’t understand with this is the water keeps backing up into the mouth piece to the point where you have to drink out of it in order to get it to stop backing up and trying to overflow out of the mouth piece. I have to hold it straight in order to drink out of it when this happens because it’ll just spill all over me.
Flaw number three, is I believe what occurs with all filtered water bottles that come with a straw. The straw never reaches the bottom for some reason, I don’t know if companies do this purposefully or they aren’t able to make the filtered straw long enough to reach the bottom, but I am constantly having to remove the filtered straw and mouth piece all together to get the last ounce of water out of my bottle and am forced to drink the tap water that I put in my bottle, unfiltered. I wish companies would make their filtered straws long enough so they could reach the bottom.
I can’t say if my last flaw is a flaw or not, since it’s more of a preference of mine and I learned this the hard way, but you definitely cannot put water mixes in your water with this bottle. I learned this the hard way when I put in a powder mix for some mango green tea flavoring for my water in my bottle and it left the filtered stained as well as it absorbed all of the flavoring but it became sour real fast and made all my future drinks horrible. I had to buy a replacement because of this. I guess I could’ve avoided this by maybe putting some fruit in my water or something if I wanted flavoring instead of the flavoring powders, but I feel as though even with fruit it would’ve absorbed the flavoring and made all my future drinks nasty. I guess that is the downfall of having a filtered water bottle though, and maybe I should look into getting a filtered water pitcher so I could put some fruit in there or something to have at home and not at work.
Anyways, if you’re looking for a good water bottle that has a filter and you can work around the flaws that I’ve found, this is the one for you.

I never write product reviews but was compelled to do so for this water bottle. It’s easy to clean, the screw-off top and handle is easy on stiff/sore hands, and it’s durable but lightweight, with a simple design that can be used with or without the straw filter. I bought another one for my partner who frequently travels to areas with less than ideal tap water, and he says it has made it infinitely easier to stay hydrated. Better still, it packs easily into a carryon so it can be refilled in airports—no more buying $5 bottled waters at the gate! I work with a lot of chronically ill folks who need to drink tons of water, and/or have joint pain and limited grip strength, and I have been recommending this bottle left and right for its simplicity and ease of use. Love when a company actually makes a product that is thoughtfully designed with accessibility in mind. If you are wondering if it’s worth the investment, I assure you it is.

I love the new design of this water bottle. I bought the original one directly from LifeStraw a few years again and have carried it everywhere with me. Well about 6 months ago I noticed that the old design started leaking when on it’s side, so when the new design came out I wanted to try it. I love that it now has a cap- that prevents leaking but also keeps the mouth part from being exposed. I drink a ton of water and LifeStraw makes the best filtered bottles for a reasonable cost. Their 2 part system means that the water is the cleanest best tasting that it can be. The filters work on tap water or water out in nature. It’s easy to drink out of, sucking on it like you would with any straw. I <3 LifeStraw

I nabbed one of these during the black Friday sales. I’d been meaning to for a while, as the water at my work is horrible. I don’t know if the pipes are bad or what, but it always tastes like a weird combo of pool water and dirt. This bottle has absolutely solved that and makes me feel a lot better about drinking tap water! It works so well that I had forgot i filled it up at work one day and only realized later when I was thinking the water was really good, haha.
The 2-stage filter works. The main part of the lifestraw filters particles down to bacteria and gets 99.99-something percent of them. This part of the filter lasts a very long time. The smaller activated carbon filter at the top is what gets the stuff that tastes bad. These need to be replaced more frequently. However, I’ve had mine a bit over a month and use it daily. I haven’t noticed a change in taste yet, so I reckon I’ve got a fair bit longer before it needs replaced.
I like the way the bottle looks, and the new design with the cap and handle is very convenient. Everything is threaded, which makes disassembling and cleaning the bottle very easy. There’s not much to complain about!
Last, LifeStraw is a company that helps people, and I’m glad to spend my money with a company that does some good with it.
Edit: Still a daily use item for me nearly 7 months later. I just now have noticed that I need to change the charcoal filter out. Pretty impressive life!

I love this bottle. It’s a huge step up from my Brita filter bottle, being much better designed for long-term use and much more versatile.
I’m a long-standing lifestraw fan because I hike and I cannot express how wonderful it is not to have to carry a whole weekend’s water or to use those awful purification tablets.
This bottle is also a step up from the previous version, with a fully-sealed cap that allows me to put it in my bike cage on a splattery day without worrying the drinking valve will get dirty.
I also particularly love the simple silicone valve that screws into the inner cap – MUCH better than the plastic Brita one, which quickly gets chipped and gunky – and it’s easy to remove and wash with a pipe brush.
Two minor points to note: – while getting the dust cap on and off is easy, because of the large handle, getting the top of the bottle unscrewed for refilling is a challenge. It really needs grips or something; it’s just too smooth. It’s also easy to over-tighten it by screwing it on via the handle (which doesn’t work for unscrewing!). Best solution is a slightly damp hand, but people with less grip strength will have trouble. – the marketing videos all show people drinking from the bottle tilted up, as if it’s a gravity-valve. This will only get the filter clogged with air. To drink from it, keep the bottle vertical and drink it like from a straw.

I bought the LifeStraw Go Series water bottle specifically for my trip to Colombia, where I knew safe drinking water wouldn’t always be readily available. It definitely came through when I needed it — and I’m really glad I had it with me.
Pros: ✅ Great filtration confidence. I used it to drink from taps, rivers, and public water fountains throughout the trip. Never got sick, and the water always tasted clean. Huge peace of mind when you’re in more remote areas.
✅ Durable build. The bottle held up well through hikes, rough bus rides, and airport handling. No leaks, even when tossed in a backpack.
✅ Easy to use. Just fill it and sip — no complicated process or waiting like some other filters. You can drink on the go, which is especially helpful in hot, humid climates.
✅ Eco-friendly. I avoided buying dozens of plastic bottles, which felt good both for my budget and the environment.
✅ Long-lasting filter. Still going strong after 3 weeks of heavy use.
Cons: ⚠️ Sipping takes effort. The filtered straw can make drinking feel a bit like sucking a thick smoothie. Not a huge deal, but it’s something to get used to.
⚠️ Small capacity. It’s a personal bottle (mine was 22oz), so if you’re on long hikes or far from refill stations, you’ll want to plan ahead.
⚠️ No filter indicator. There’s no visual cue for when the filter is close to needing replacement — you kind of have to guess based on usage.
Bottom line: If you’re traveling to places where water safety is a concern — whether cities or rural trails — the LifeStraw Go is 100% worth it. It gave me the freedom to hydrate anywhere in Colombia without constantly worrying about the source. While it’s not perfect, the peace of mind alone makes it a great investment for travelers, hikers, or anyone who wants backup filtration in their bag.
Would recommend, especially for backpackers or eco-conscious travelers.

Filters have a weird taste at first. Really need to do a thorough rinse out. Also one of the two bottles caps is a bit challenging to screw on, the threads some wonky or something. The bottles came with little instructions. A friend who owns these is telling I need to store them in salt water so the filters don’t dry out. However, one wouldn’t know this by the information that came with the bottles. They hold maybe 16 ounces with the straw so not that big.

I purchased these water bottles for a trip to Eastern Cuba. Bottled water was hard to come by and the Lifestraw water bottles came in so handy. We filled them with tap water, and water from a river (our guide said you could drink it straight up but I wasn’t taking that chance!) and we were didn’t get sick. Others in our group did get sick, not sure if from the water or food poisoning but it just take one little microbe in the water to make you sick! Sucking from the top wasn’t nearly as difficult as I thought it would be either, so a great purchase all around! If you’re going to be in an area where the water is suspect, get this water bottle!

Two minor points to note:
– while getting the dust cap on and off is easy, because of the large handle, getting the top of the bottle unscrewed for refilling is a challenge.

Great bottle, tastes awesome. Just know that if you don’t screw the cap on and let it sit a while, water will slowly squirt out and drip all over. It’s kinda annoying. Still giving it a 5 star though.

I bought the LifeStraw Go Series water bottle specifically for my trip to Colombia, where I knew safe drinking water wouldn’t always be readily available. It definitely came through when I needed it — and I’m really glad I had it with me.
Pros:
✅ Great filtration confidence.
Cons:
⚠️ Sipping takes effort.
Bottom line:
If you’re traveling to places where water safety is a concern — whether cities or rural trails — the LifeStraw Go is 100% worth it.

Awesome!
Makes international travel much less nerve wracking!
Can travel without being concerned about where the water is coming from, and without having to use only bottled water!
Excellent on dive boats!
